Four million cats and dogs — about 1 every 8 seconds — are euthanized each year.

Spaying and neutering helps control pet population and promotes animal health.

How It Works

This is a cost-sharing program. You pay the certificate amount directly to PAWS Animal Rescue, and we cover the remaining veterinary bill.

Eligibility

Must be a resident of Hughes or Stanley County

Pet vaccinations must be current per South Dakota law before the veterinary appointment

No income restrictions — available to all qualifying residents

Maximum of two certificates per household annually

How to Purchase

Visit our shelter on Saturdays from 11am – 1pm to purchase a spay/neuter certificate.

Please bring cash (exact amount — we are unable to make change). Credit card purchases incur a $4 minimum fee.
